Background Investigations
Certified Martial Arts
When it comes to certifying martial artists, we believe the process is more about the person than the curriculum
they followed. The most important step in certifying an individual teaching defensive arts is to learn more about their background and character.
As such, we perform extensive background investigations on all applicants for Registered Martial Artist or Certified Martial Artist status.
Our background investigation includes criminal history, sex offender status, drug use, mental illness, military service record/discharge status, citizenship/immigration status, and business fraud,
as well as reference checks, rank authentication, and other records verification. While we cannot guarantee that disqualified applicants never make it through the process, we do everything reasonable
to make it extremely difficult.
The background investigation process used is that of Sports Verification Services, a division of the Surveillance Group in Baltimore, Maryland. All investigative activities
are undertaken by a licensed private detective. Our process includes detailed nationwide records verification, database lookups, interviews, reference checks, records verification,
and much more.
